Day 1: Intro to Course and Camera Basics

By Jadyn Cleary

For the first day of this J-Term, we began the morning by being given an intro to the course as well as a presentation on how we should use critical thinking while critiquing photographs and how to do so. In the afternoon, we had a guest speaker, Laura Napier, go over ways to adjust many different functions on our cameras to get a desired image. We then went outside to practice these techniques with our cameras ourselves. Ms. Napier worked with each of us individually to ensure that we all felt comfortable using the techniques. This was really helpful for me because I was able to learn more in-depth about certain things I already knew and also learn completely new concepts. After today, we all felt much more comfortable using our cameras and knowing how to manipulate the settings depending on the picture we are trying to take. Special thanks to Laura Napier for the wonderful class!
